I wish to turn to you for help pertinent administration, methods of dosing and selection of medical marijuana for my 10 years old son. I wish to cut long story short.
My Son, Mikolaj, was born in 2006. On the second day of his life, he was diagnosed with Hirschprung disease resulting in removal of 30 cm of his large intestine. Presumably, he was contracted with a drug-resistant bacteria which lead to bronchitis and pneumonia. Consequently, he suffered from cerebral hypoxia and cerebral hemorrhage of third and fourth degree. After one-month struggle for his life in a drug-induced coma in intensive care unit, it was finally possible to find a combination of antibiotics that fought off the bacteria. However, the cerebral hemorrhage caused a drastic deterioration of muscle tonicity. We did not give up and at the age of 6 months, we started intensive motor and mental rehabilitation. Consequently, at the age of 3, he finally managed to have a sit on his own and he set his first steps at the age of 6. Additionally, the Polish National Health Service only refunded a few per cent of these therapies and the overall cost of them exceeded my earnings, hence we had to fight for financing through numerous charities and people of good will. At the age of 8, he was diagnosed with previously unheard-of genetic disease, undescribed in the world of medicine: Unbalanced chromosome translocation of 7th and 8th short arm. However, geneticist does not reckon that this defect has anything in common with his current state. At the age of 4, he was being diagnosed for autism and despite numerous autistic traits, he was not unanimously/explicitly diagnosed with autism. My son has never focused his eyesight, he exhibits anti-social behavior and is not willing on either group or individual cooperation. He is not able to communicate with the environment, he speaks in his own language and he solely screams, howls, shrieks. He is hyperactive and what is worst, we have been fighting against his auto-aggression/auto-destructive behavior for the last 3 years.
He hits his head with fists, bangs his head on the wall, table and other objects, bites his hands without feeling pain (his banging head on the wall has been present since his birth with short intervals), he throws anger fits accompanied with screaming and increased muscle tension. Occasionally, he can be extremely aroused and run incessantly all day long and fail to sleep. Ever since his cerebral hemorrhage, he has had unbalanced EEG, however epileptic seizures did not occur until April. Now, he has had three epileptic seizures since April. After counsel with neurologist and psychiatrist, he was on mood-balancing and EEG-enhancing drugs for two years. First, Rispolept and Depakine after half a year. In January, he was additionally prescribed with Oxepilax. On short-term basis, we were supposed to administer Resled. However, after two-year fruitless strive to set these drugs in various combinations and dosage, the doctors decided it was high time to change drugs since the aforementioned ones were arousing him, instead of stabilize.
My son has been on Lamotrix, next Neurotop and Haloperidol for the last half year. Ever since Neurotop, he hasn't had any seizures, however he has not acquired emotional stability and I highly doubt it is possible since Resled (which used to have a tranquilizing effect on him) now arouses him. Doctors are taking into consideration another change of drugs or adding a strong psychiatric drug. Whenever I ask them about treatment using medical marijuana, they hold water in their mouths; "There is no unanimous clinic study that confirms this method", they say. Their reaction comes as no surprise to me, because medical marijuana is illicit even for medical purposes, (only THC-free varieties are legal).
Neurologist from one of the most prestigious Polish children's hospital has undertaken a few-month trial to treat children with antibiotic-resistant epilepsy using Bediol and Berdocan. The result was extraordinary, however he was laid off and banned from practicing medicine in any public hospital. However, he doesn't suffer from boredom since he has a long queue waiting in his private clinic - parents of children with antibiotic-resistant epilepsy. My son has an appointment with him on 31st July, however I wish to pick your brain and experience since I know that it works way better in the USA and the doctors have broader knowledge on the subject to the point that clinic studies are carried out. The matter of medical marijuana has been a hot topic recently in Polish media and society. we have abundance activists and promoters of these therapies, who fight for legalization of medical marijuana by holding conferences (Marc Emery and Arlene Williams were present at one of them in May). Legalization of medical marijuana is strongly supported by the Polish society. However, on the other hand, they are hard-die, ignorant people who equate marijuana with heroine, cocaine and find them lethal, pathogene, mind-wrecking (yet, alcohol is still good for you).
Moreover, our law do not help us by persecuting and sentencing us for possession of even the slightest amount of marijuana, however many people do not abide by the law by growing and smoking or producing RSO on their own account. I intend to start my own home-grown cultivation of medicine for my son, especially that I do not wish to poison him with another portion of good-for-nothing drugs, hence I wish to inquire you about the selection of variety, methods of administration and dosing. I know it will not sort all our problems out. We wish to find to stability that would allow us to work on his further development - any form of alternative form of communication. The exact dosing would be consulted with the aforesaid neurologist as he pointed out it would be best to consult with someone of more profound knowledge and experience since he majors in/specializes in epilepsy.
